If the US continues on the train wreck agenda from the last two years, I wonder how long we will be able to enjoy this blogsite. I'm in California. I'm watching the election coverage on MSNBC. I can only pray that the House changes hold (but I'm an atheist, so I don't know if that will have any effect).

whkattk. This man and his his cohorts and their zombie followers will not accept any change. Trump and his evil colleagues will take a scorched earth strategy. The GOP did that on the first day of Obama's administration. These monsters have no values. I feel vindicated. It appears that half of the US citizen have been self-lobotomized. It demonstrates my observations.

People who aren't Trump-Zombies stepped up and there were GREAT successes: House flipped, 100+ (?) women were elected to Congress, LGBTV, native Indians, Muslim, and other remarkable accomplishments happened. There was also great success for state governors and legislatures also improved.
I am quite terrified that despite these these evil GOP will not allow adhere to our governments rules. Republicans/GOP have literally not care for our country for many years. They have a very narrow, horrifying agenda.
I fear that the very worst: non-GOP citizens will get bored and disinterested. There was a small victory. But this segment of citizens have sadly been passive and lazy. Too many times the Democrats have had the opportunity to succeed and they ALWAYS fumble. The GOP are ruthless. They have triumphed. Democrats have been completely ineffective every time.
I hope that this country will survive. But I am very doubtful that the Democrat constituents will be able to adequately fight the GOPs dastardly, nefarious, and quite effective tactics.
Mibhelle Obama was noble when she said that we should take the higher road. The GOP have literally thrived and laughed at that naivety.
Will the Democrats effectively fight the war in 2019 when they have control of the house of representatives. I don't think so. Will Democrat voters continue the level of activism to ultimately win this war. I doubt it. My Democrat party has for decades lived in a pathetic, slothful insouciance that got is in this predicament in the first place.
SNAP OUT of it non GOP US citizens. Your laziness and passivity will ensure the destruction of your Constitutional rights as well as your offspring and their descendants. I'll be long dead and gone, thank the Goddess.
Well, your atheist's "prayers" to the Goddess (?) were answered. But, I wouldn't be so excited about the additional Muslim representative. She's for Shariah law, which requires the execution of men who love other men. And she's on record as supporting a Palestinian war of genocide against Israel. As you may be aware, Israel is the only place in the Middle East where you can make love to a man without risk of execution. To say nothing about the general evil of genocides.

DeleteMy goddess didn't answer my prayers. I've not yet found a god(ess) who can do that. That is nothing new. It is all mythology. No doubt the many humans in history have found that these mythologies provide a spiritual road map. Glad, I haven't. But there is a huge difference between spirituality and religious institutions that are simply a political vehicles to control the unwashed.

Although the election wasn't quite the grand slam that I falsely prayed for, I am thankful (atheists have that capacity). But the Senate remains in the hands of radical faux Christians. They do not practice Christianity. They use it as a weapon. These lunatic GOP leaders are certainly the biggest danger to the average US citizen.
It would have been a grand slam and I could have falsely thanked the mythological goddess or god if the swine Ted Cruz had finally been dispatched to a state of redundancy. It is tragic that the GOP lunatic Senate picked up a few more religious/pompous white male radicals and strengthened their control of the Senate.
I am also not surprised that there may be some vote counting irregularities. Good ole dangling chad Florida always loves a good junta (does anyone remember Shrub's hijacking the 2000 presidential election). But there are several other states with similar irregularities. Who knows? Although, I am sure this will end up in the Supreme Court and the GOP butt boy, Kavanaugh, will begin to fulfill his mission.
On the other hand those of us who aren't supporters of this tyrannic, frightening GOP agenda, enjoyed some successes. The war wasn't won but certainly we didn't die on the hill (pardon the pun). This outcome was certainly not divine. But 120 (+ or - since there are a number of House of Rep elections still undecided) is closer to the divine-like results that I falsely prayed for. I was also thrilled that the state elections also netted successes for Democrats.
The most curious thing that you said was your comment about the Muslim woman who won a seat. It left me in hysterics. Thank you.

Since you've made assumptions about this Muslim women I should provide you with some additional facts about a few GOP scoundrels who were reelected. The hateful GOP deplorables elected some interesting characters: 3 are under indictment for federal crimes (do you think this is just fake news by stupid, albeit PROUD, left wing radicals like me?) Another Rep died a few weeks ago in his Nevada brothel (probably his Christian ghost can represent the GOPs from the afterworld.
We could forever "tit for tat" in this insane country. There are alarming hateful frightening WHITE men who are in power today that are a bigger a bigger threat than the one "woman" who allegedly believes in false Christian men are truly the biggest threat to the majority of people in our country. Their rhetoric and insanity has been going on for decades.
Assuming that this country survives intact the thing that I feel most passionate about is how do each of us begin to pick up the pieces and start to have civil discourse (which we pioneered). How can we begin to act like partially civilized people?
